Dr. Peelle completed his undergraduate education at Duke University. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a dual Bachelor of Science degree in biology and psychology.
Dr. Peelle received his medical degree from Washington University in St. Louis. This medical school ranks among the top 10 best medical schools according to US News & World Report. Dr. Peelle remained in St. Louis to complete his internship and orthopedic residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, a nationally recognized clinical and research institution. He was elected the Chief Resident in his final year of training to help lead the orthopedic program in administrative and teaching goals.
Dr. Peelle then completed a fellowship in spinal surgery in New York City at the Hospital for Special Surgery. This hospital consistently ranks as #1 on the US News & World Report for best orthopedic hospitals in the country. Dr. Peelle learned minimally invasive spine surgery techniques from experts in the field and assisted in operations for scoliosis correction in both adults and in children.
Dr. Peelle is a Fellow of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is a member of academic organizations including the North American Spine Society, American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and the Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery.
He has numerous peer-reviewed publications on spinal surgery and has presented multiple research papers at national meetings. Dr. Peelle recently served as President of the South Carolina Spine Society, a statewide organization focused on improving spine care through innovation and collaboration.
Dr. Peelle is certified by the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners. He routinely performs evaluations for work-related spinal injuries. He has developed a close rapport with employers and case managers to ensure an efficient and empathetic plan treats the injured worker. He is considered an expert on spine conditions and spine surgery for legal depositions. He has performed hundreds of Independent Medical Evaluations (IME) for injured workers in South Carolina.
